Runway Roundup: Fall 2010 RTW Milan Part 2

Here are the last few looks I was loving from Milan! Paris will be underway in the next couple of days...

Dolce & Gabbana

Loving these gorgeous, impeccably crafted, understated looks -- such a great counterpoint to the rollicking ski-bunny charm of D&G, yet you can still draw a few parallels between the collections, which is something I always really enjoy. Domenico and Stefano were all about returning to the traditional concept of luxury this season, reveling in the artistry of the craftspeople in their atelier, and their passion for the true artistry of clothesmaking really comes across with this collection. I'm really into all the knits, and the mix of textures is wonderful.

Luisa Beccaria

Just an all-around lovely and fairly simple group of looks rendered in my favorite color palette. Beccaria laid the element of girlishness that runs through the collection on a little thick (especially evident in the proliferation of Mary Janes and knee socks), yet the clothes as a whole still feel sophisticated and grown-up in spite of all the ruffles. I'm not really a girly-girl, but these dresses appeal to me -- I could see myself in that first outfit on the left, and the metallic cocktail dresses are beautiful.

Moschino

OK, I have yet to meet a cowboy hat I like (and I grew up in Arizona!), but I have to admit despite the ten-gallon toppers, I was dying over these looks. Dare I say they even added that dose of wink-wink, nudge-nudge that Moschino is so famous for? This collection has a fun, glam Dallas feel -- the policewomen of Broward County go to Studio 54, perhaps. Loving the touches of ultra-bright metallic gold (gotta have that, of course, it's Moschino, after all) and the major fringe. These girls are bad dirty cops, and I like it.

No. 21

Alessandro Dell'Acqua, after losing the rights to his own name, reinvented himself with his new label, No. 21, for fall. These looks, he says, are for "real" women; overall it's more about wearable pieces for day than his eponymous collection was. I love it. The color palette is totally scrumptious and the leopard-print ponyhair coat is making me reconsider my aversion to animal spots. And I might cut off my little toe for that simple nude sheath all the way to the left. Basically perfect.

That's it for Milan! I'm working on the Paris collections right now and they are sick, so stay tuned! As usual, don't forget to become a fan of WR2BAM on Facebook for sneak peeks at my picks before they get posted here!
