Fantasy Outfit: Desert Dreaming

A fantasy outfit informed by my weekend spent out in the desert, driving around the incredible bleak landscape and listening to lots of Witchcraft. Being out there is crazy inspiring for me in every way.

1.) I'm really into Fair Isle-inspired knits right now; they have an earthy, bohemian quality that's appealingly authentic. I like this one for its easy silhouette and charcoal, goes-with-everything color palette. Patterned cardigan with tie belt, $32.90, Heritage 1981.

2.) This faded, slightly creepy rose print on a tissue-thin tank is kind of perfect in every way, and the washed out colors are spot-on for where I'm going with this look. Something Else "Mirage Rose" tee, $86, I Don't Like Mondays.

3.) My Facebook fans might have already seen my link to this amazing Etsy shop full of killer skull jewelry, but how fucking incredible is this set of four bird skull pendants (three ravens and one sparrow) strung at different chain lengths for maximum wearability? So good, I'm kind of obsessed. "Flock of Bird Skulls" pendant necklace cluster, $48, Moon Raven Designs.

4.) The perfect shade of dusty desert taupe, with just a hint of rose. Essie nail color in "Mink Muffs," $8, Essie Shop.

5.) I like these classic jeans for their second-skin fit and their cool color -- washed-out black that basically feels like the best faded gray. You could get them totally dusty and thrashed and they'd still look good. Free People five-pocket skinny jean, $68, Karmaloop.

6.) A simple ring that has an organic feel -- it's rough-hewn and chunky, a mini rocky landscape on your finger. Low Luv x Erin Wasson "Pyramid" knuckle ring, $48, Shopbop.

7.) Lately I've been loving the idea of a super-tactical men's watch to toughen clothes up and lend a utilitarian vibe. This one has all the bells and whistles (stopwatch, date window, day-of-week readout, and so on...) and it just looks really classic and cool. Smith & Wesson multi-function pilot's chronograph watch, $79.97, Sportman's Guide.

8.) Maybe not the most practical thing in the world, but how cute are these? Traditional Wallabee-style suede lace-up desert boots, but with a little wedge! I'm loving them and kind of want them in every color (besides black they come in khaki and brown); luckily the price means that's totally possible. Splash "Ocean 72" ankle boots, $16.99, Cutesy Girl.

oh man i just got one of those erin wasson rings...not the one you posted, but the "boulder" one...also very chunky and organic. i love it and want it all! i cant believe those wedged wallabees are only 16.99...they're like a more wearable version of the marc jacobs ones.
