LTK: February 8, 2010

This is one of those forgot-to-think-about-it, thrown-together-off-the-bedroom-floor outfits, so all things considered I like it:

I got this grommeted-shoulder sweatshirt over the weekend at the enormous new Forever 21 at Los Cerritos Center (and seriously, if you're the L.A./O.C. area you should check it out, because it's amazing -- two stories, eighty-five thousand square feet, and really beautifully designed; it's like shopping a department store). I picked it up for casual outfits, but I was in a pinch this morning and it was the first thing I grabbed. Pairing it with all-black pieces that are a little more dressed up makes it work OK for the office. Here's a close-up of the grommet detail:

Buffalo plaid wool jacket: Gap, $40, Gap Factory Store, Sedona, AZ.
Grommeted sweatshirt: $16, Forever 21.
Black lantern skirt: $40, H&M.
Black tights: Merona, $4, Target.
Black suedette platforms: $40, Michael Antonio, Endless.
Black leather fingerless gloves: Deena & Ozzy, $10, Urban Outfitters (win them!)
Black plastic "Litchi" sunglasses: Chloé, $75, Loehmann's.

In other news, it seems like I've been hunting for OPI's Matte collection forever -- every beauty supply I hit for the last three months has been sold out -- and yesterday I finally got my hands on a bottle of the matte version of Lincoln Park After Dark:

I love the matte finish, but I think it'll be more effective on lighter colors, because this shade kind of lost a lot of its color dimension as it dried. Also, everything I've read about the matte shades emphasizes that they don't last as long as regular polish, and that's definitely true -- just since taking this morning's photos, three of my nails have started chipping, so it's probably not for the type who only redoes her nails every few weeks. Still, for a different look I really like it, and I also picked up Essie's "Matte About You" matteifying topcoat to try over shades I already own, so I'll let you know how that goes!

Oh! And don't forget that today is the last day for entries in the Deena & Ozzy leather gloves giveaway! The winner will be announced tomorrow morning so get your entries in!

LOVE the grommet details. I have been looking for a shirt like this and am so excited to see it featured here!

Also, please let us know how the "Matte About You" treatment turns out, I'd like to try it on some of my fav nail polishes!

Wow, 85,000 feet!? I haven't been to that one yet. I like the one in Thousand Oaks (north of L.A.) since it has the best merchandising and is easy to navigate due to its 2 stories and lack of crowds.
