Fantasy Outfit: February 9, 2010

Here's a fantasy outfit that was inspired by the rather gray day we're having outside in Southern California this Tuesday. I imagine myself wearing this as I tool around Long Beach on a similarly dreary day, getting coffee and running errands:

I wanted to build a casual, daytime look around this charming trompe l'oeil tank dress -- it's so cute and girly, I thought the best approach would be to temper its femininity and sense of humor with really classic, low-key pieces in natural colors. I picked a khaki trench in homage to all the subdued military looks in the pre-fall collections and gave the whole look a traditionalist vibe with the utilitarian brown satchel and low-profile Converse skimmers (a fashion-forward version of the classic Chuck Taylor All Star, so cute!). Rough-looking, handmade bracelets, an eclectic pair of studs, and moody eggplant nail polish add a little edgy interest.

1.) Classic trench coat, $79.50, American Eagle Outfitters.
2.) Oasis trompe l'oeil print tunic dress, $62.13, ASOS.
3.) Eclectic disk post earrings, $12, Urban Outfitters.
4.) Black wrap surf bracelet, $24, and studded surf bracelet, $36, Warsaw Made.
5.) 3 Free nail varnish in Stroppy, $14, Butter London.
6.) Converse All Star Light oxford sneakers, $44, Need Supply Co.
7.) Supple leatherette shoulder bag, $28.80, Forever 21.

What are you fantasizing about wearing as the weather gets a little warmer? Don't forget you can always create Polyvore sets and e-mail them to me or post them on the WR2BAM Facebook wall! You guys have great taste, and I love seeing your looks.

I've been admiring this dress on my asos browsing sessions, and I adore the classic and casual way in which you styled it. I can imagine wearing this outfit for a lazy Saturday at the Farmers' Market or for thrifting.
