LTK: October 7, 2009

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I talked about the ideal wrap sweater coat for all manner of fallish comings and goings? This is what I had in mind. I can't get enough of it:

I'm not usually the type to let a statement coat like this make my entire outfit, but this wrap sweater is pretty much irresistible, and it just plain works on its own. In spite of being just about the coziest thing ever, it has a really chic, sophisticated shape to it -- I feel like it comes off really ladylike and classic. The wide collar and three-quarter-length bracelet sleeves really do it for me. I love that I look pulled together today, yet I feel as comfortable as if I were snuggled up in a blanket at home.

As far as accessorizing such a major piece, I decided to let the sweater coat do most of the talking, and elected to go with a bold lip and a few rings. On a whim I hit up Rite-Aid in search of a plummy, berry-stained shade similar to the ones that have been getting press for fall, but as you're probably aware, drugstore cosmetics lines aren't exactly known for their fashion forward color selection. I ended up going with Revlon's Super Lustrous creme lipstick in Raspberry Bite, worn over their ColorStay lipliner in Plum, for a decent approximation:

It's a little more berry and a little less plum, but it's working out OK. Apart from the occasional swipe of NARS Red Square, I'm generally pretty lipstick shy, but I think this is a welcome addition to my beauty arsenal -- an easy, on-trend way to switch it up for the season.

Three silver rings of varying styles on the right hand are the finishing touch:

I find that keeping jewelry concentrated to one small area gives you a little more leeway with how much you can appropriately wear -- plus I'm just loving all these rings together. (The nail polish, by the way, is OPI's Moon Over Mumbai, in case you were wondering -- I get asked about it a lot.)

Mélange wrap sweater coat: $98, Ann Taylor Loft.
Black trapeze dress: $18, Old Navy.
Black suedette platform pumps: Michael Antonio, $48, Endless.
Oversized Wayfarer-style sunglasses: KISS, $5, Orange County Swapmeet.
Silver gumball ring: Forever 21, $3.
Silver signet ring: Courtesy of Like Beau.
Silver-and-crystal explosion ring: Banana Republic, $23.

You look great! I'm on the hunt for the perfect sweater coat as well.
p.s.-Moon over Mumbai is my favorite OPI neutral.

I just checked AT Loft based on your review - that sweater coat is now half off, at least online. I think AT does price adjustments if you bought it within a certain period of time - you should check. It looks great and is worth it at full price, though!
