The Lucky List: August 2009

Lots of studded bottoms and beauty items in this month's issue!

Click for full size.

1.) This super-sparkly rhinestone chandelier necklace is totally over the top, but that's what I like about it. I'd wear it with long gunmetal chains and a heavy metal t-shirt to toughen it up. "Cinderella" rhinestone necklace set (with matching earrings), $52, Glamour Goddess Jewelry.

2.) I was instantly in love with these ultrashort high-waisted bouclé hot pants (check out the pyramid studs lining the pockets!). How cute would these be with a basic long-sleeved tee and canvas skimmers for balmy summer evenings? Apparently these will hit stores in late August -- perfect timing. Studded bouclé "Dion" high-waist shorts, $40, H&M.

3.) This go-with-everything bisque shade is the perfect mix of summer nail trends, hitting the right note somewhere between pink, gray, and beige. CND Enamel in "Cocoa," $6, Ulta.

4.) I'm still on the lookout for a just-right hot pink lip crayon, and I'll be sure to test out this creamy shade next time I'm at Target -- the pigment looks intense and the price is right. Sonia Kashuk Velvety Shine Lip Crayon in Hot Pink, $6, Target.

5.) The magazine featured a plethora of studded jeans this month -- this slightly weathered boyfriend style appealed to me for casual looks. Distressed jeans with pyramid studded pocket detail, $80, Express.

6.) And these somewhat unusual cropped skinnies would be great with heels for parties and laid-back nights out -- I love how the studs go all the way down the leg, giving the illusion of length. Stretch cropped jeans, $60, H&M.

7.) As a die hard metalhead, when it comes to scents, I used to shrink away from the P-word -- "patchouli" -- and all its hippie connotations. Then I started using Kiehl's Original Musk, which has base notes of white patchouli, and now I'm a convert. This new perfume from Benefit also has patchouli base notes, lightened up with pink pepper, raspberry, and bergamot, and its martini-shaker-style bottle is adorable. Can't wait to give it a try. Benefit My Place Or Yours Gina perfume, $36, Sephora.

8.) After over a decade of daily use, I still haven't found a mascara I can fully commit to, but this month Lucky featured a couple of contendors. First up: Maybelline's take on the vibrating wand trend promises ultra-thick lashes that look like they were done by a professional, for way cheaper than the popular Lancôme and Estée Lauder versions. Maybelline Pulse Perfection by Define-A-Lash vibrating mascara, $15, drugstores.

9.) On the higher end of the spectrum, I can't resist Giorgio Armani's new Eyes To Kill mascara for the name alone. If it lives up to its claim of spidery-in-the-best-possible-way lashes that look ultra dark, defined, and looooooong, I might be hooked. Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill mascara, $28, Saks Fifth Avenue.

The studded jeans were the only thing I could get behind in this month's issue. Nothing jumped out at me, sadly.

The studded jeans were also my top picks in this month's issue. I might even try a DIY...

Love the blog! Having a hard time finding the CND nail enamel in Cocoa. Any other ideas? I couldn't find it on Ulta.com. Thanks!
