Looks That Kill: Timothy Leary's Secretary

Click for full-size.

This outfit is mostly vintage, except for the skirt, which originally had matching denim-covered buttons that had the nasty habit of popping off at inopportune times. I replaced them with vintage brown leather buttons and I actually think it looks better this way.

I like this outfit because it has all the components of a classic office-appropriate outfit -- pencil skirt, puff-sleeve blous, knee high boots -- but the textures and fabrics are a little more unusual and give the look a sort of '70s spin.

Oatmeal open-weave blouse: Vintage, rescued from a friend's closet.
Denim pencil skirt: Proenza Schouler for Target GO International, I don't remember how much it cost.
Burgundy knee-high boots: Vintage, $8 on Ebay. I love them.
Peacock feather earrings: Vintage, $12 on Ebay.

I love the earrings with your hairstyle. Is that a braid in your hair?

Thank you! Yes, it is a braid...my hair is getting too long for me to have the patience to style it, so I've been wrapping braids across the top of my head and pinning the rest up in back. It's easy to do and just looks a little more special than just putting it all back. I'm in dire need of a haircut, though!
