What Is Waitin' Round 2 Be A Millionaire?
Simply put, WR2BAM is a blog about fashion, for people who love fashion, but aren't necessarily the industry's target demographic -- we're maybe too young, or too weird, or too counterculture, or, above all, too poor. The plain fact is that a lot of the people who obsess about fashion just can't afford to buy pieces from high-end designers, and I know more than a handful of people who can't afford a single item featured in any given month's Vogue, but we still love fashion -- we just have to love it our way.
The name of this blog comes from the AC/DC song "Ain't No Fun (Waitin' Round To Be A Millionaire)" because that's how I feel whenever I find myself stranded and salivating in a Bloomingdale's with only $40 in my checking account. In this blog I aim to write about fashion that's accessible, inspired by fashion that's unattainable. Obviously I'll never be able to resist featuring a really insane pair of Roger Vivier heels or a Marc Jacobs dress that's especially tickling my fancy, but my main goal is to write about fashion and style from the average 20something's point of view. Fashion is something to fantasize about, but it's also something we should be able to achieve on a less-than-remarkable budget.
Who Is Waiting Round 2 Be A Millionaire?
Well, everybody is, right? But mainly, it's me! My name is Sara and I'm a 23-year-old living in Long Beach, CA. I'm not your typical fashionista -- my music tastes lean towards '80s heavy metal and snotty '70s punk rock, I'll take a PBR over a dry martini any day of the week, and my closet is stuffed with H&M dresses and Ebay finds rather than Marni and Miu Miu. I make just enough money to get by as it is, but I still find myself spending most of it on clothes.
I started WR2BAM because I like to think about and write about fashion. I spend countless hours every week scouring Internet stores, poring over fashion magazines, and rifling through racks at malls and shops across Southern California, and I'm always daydreaming about style, so I figured I might as well daydream about it in a public forum where maybe, if I'm lucky, other people might come along and daydream with me.
For specific information about yours truly, check out my about me.
Basically, my goal with WR2BAM is to create a fashion forum for girls like me -- a little quirky, a little rock 'n roll, a little destitute, but with a lot of interest in fashion and style. We're the millionaires of the future, so we might as well look great now!
